Day 21 (Middle Earth) - Sunday 9th October 2016

Wizard-size me
There and back again!

After a delicious lunch at Longlands Farm & Restaurant in Matamata, we headed to Hobbiton in Middle Earth. The movie set for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies is found at the Alexander farm in Matamata and is a must-see if you're a fan of the films (or even if you've never seen them or read the books. Can you believe there were some heathens on our tour who hadn't done either? Inconceivable! Oops, sorry - that's from another film!).

A guide (alas, not a Hobbit, but a regular human) leads you on a tour around The Shire with a stop-off for a drink at The Green Dragon.

This film set is truly spectacular, with so much attention to detail.  ðŸ’–💖💖

    1. I loved Hobbiton, too. 💖 It tried to rain to start with, but didn't amount to much (we've been so lucky with regards to the weather so far - the worst day was when we travelled to the Bay of Islands, but we were in the coach for the worst of it). I had the non-alcoholic ginger beer. 😀 I'm the only one from the UK. There are two couples from America (one from Alabama, I think, and one from Virginia), and the rest are Aussies (I don't think there are any New Zealanders here).
