Day 24 (Masterton/Greytown/Wellington) - Wednesday 12th October 2016

Rimutaka view
Apparently, it snowed in Queenstown last night. We'll be there in four days' time. Hope it's cleared up by then as I didn't pack any thermal gear for this spring holiday!

Anyway, we had great excitement on our tour today as we battled the high winds whilst travelling through the Rimutaka range of mountains. This range gets to an elevation of 555 metres at the look-out point, and the road through is very twisty.

We were merrily travelling along when a side flap flew up and all our luggage went tumbling down the mountainside (obviously, I've embellished that last bit for dramatic purposes. It was only the driver's luggage). Our driver stopped to investigate, and we were relieved to hear it was just the wheel cover that had flown up in the wind and was easily fixed (no luggage was harmed in the making of this dramatic episode - phew!).

Greytown Library
There was far less travelling today, and I managed to come across a library when we had a short stop in Greytown (current tally on my quest: two out of six libraries had the book). We also had a stop at Wellington Botanic Garden, Mt Victoria, and Old Saint Paul's, which is a timber Gothic Revival church in Wellington.
