Day 30 (Arrowtown/Te Anau) - Tuesday 18th October 2016

Arrowtown
There's gold in them there hills!

After leaving Queenstown this morning, we visited Arrowtown, an old gold mining village. A lot of the buildings in the main street were built during the gold mining days, and the village is very picturesque. If you want to find out more about the place, the Lakes District Museum is well worth a look.

This was followed by a short stop at Kawarau Bridge, where the Kawarau Bungy Centre is located. This was home to the world's first bungee jump! Nobody from our tour group took the plunge - I think most of them were put off by what our tour guy told us: 'The bungee jump is free for Aussies. No strings attached.'

Our afternoon was free once we arrived at our hotel in Te Anau, so I wandered around the shops and took a stroll along the shores of Lake Te Anau.
